Garden & Heritage Tours

High Country Tour - visit 3 properties

The High Country Tour offers a group experience of the Coleridge basin and Windwhistle areas. It's a day of heritage, history and rural hospitality.

The tour includes meeting the families of 3 local properties, which each showcase their different lifestyles, homes and gardens. A short farm tour is also given at Middle Rock.

The tour begins one hour's travel from Christchurch and operates year round by appointment. Meals are included (lunch, morning and afternoon tea).

Operating since 1990 this popular tour has been a consistent favourite with travel clubs, groups visiting Canterbury and confence delegates.

Groups supply their own transport.

Charges: $100 per person

Rockwood is open by arrangement for garden and house tours and the Rockwood Bush Walk.

Rockwood is a historical homestead with a beautiful woodland garden set in the Canterbury foothills. The garden includes English trees and rhododendrons and is bordered by 100 acres of native bush and the Rockwood Stream.

The tour features an 1850's Cobb House, family graves, the bush walk with its native bird life, and the Homestead which has been recently redecorated in a classical style.

Rockwood also has "The Shearers Hut" self-catered accommodation for rent.
